How I changed my view on Wrestling.

About 5 months ago, right  when we first started this blog. So this is when we were still trying to figure out who we are, what will be our strong suit and what we can add to the internet ( 3 things that are really the same but worded differently so that it sounds more important. Because that's what I do). One night after our first Walking Dead podcast Mikey,Nick, Parks and I high off recording an hour and a half of what was the best off the cuff work we have done so far. We started bullshitting about the possibilities of what we can do.  Mikey,Nick and Parks are big wrestling fans and were on the verge of heading to wrestlemaina with in the next few months so the idea of a wrestling podcast came up. All 3 of them blew up with excitement and how it will start up after wrestlemaina. Needless to say they spent the next few weeks trying to get me back into wrestling.

A little background on me , is that I will do my homework on something before I form an opinion on it. For instance  my brother Jimmy told me that I should read the Hunger games and then watch the movie. So instead of saying that it wasn't for me automatically I read all 3 books and watched the movie . It's not for me. Same with when Mikey told me to watch Lost. I watched about 11 episodes before I tapped out. I couldn't stand it. A friend at work told me to check out Sherlock and I really liked it. I thought it was a great all around show. All 3 are on Netflix if you want to go check them out  ( Plug City). I could have stopped at 2 examples but I want you to know that when I say I am going to watch or read something I commit.

It had to happen
I haven't watched wrestling since I think 2002 , so I missed out on so stuff I guess you can say. So I had my reservations about starting up again. All the stars I cheered for as a younger version have all retired, went to a different company or just have been replaced. Going in blind and expecting the same product that was the reason why I stopped watching over 10 years ago. But honestly I was surprised on what I saw.  This is a fry cry from what I was used too. What ever happened to Grand Master Sexay? Did Al Snow and the Job squad ever find a real opponent? I have questions that need answers !

So I gave it a chance and I have to say I think it's better now then it was in it's glory days. I think the talent is better in the ring, on the mic and even the story telling is not as ridiculous as it once was. But still crazy because of the fact it's wrestling. But with whats going on now and how the stars are basically wrestling fans who studied and mastered some form of fighting that would have been made a lame gimmick back in the early 80's- Attitude era. Guys like Daniel Bryan, Cm Punk, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggeler,Zack Ryder and one guy who the guys showed me his name is Sami Zayn who used to be a big time indy wrestler by the name of El Generico and he is really good at the type of wrestler he is. But these guys back in the day would be used as those no name guys who get stomped by the normally untalented big guys that are basically the same. Which I think is part of the main story line right now. But I have missed a few weeks after SummerSlam so I am kinda lost on whats going on. But I really like it now. It's just an overall upgrade. The hits these athletes take and the show they put on is out of this world.  You might notice I use the name athletes for wrestlers, I do this for two reasons. 1. They are hands down more athletic then most pro athletes and 2. I don't know what else to call them.

Though I have given it some thought and I think I have come up with a pretty accurate list of what each writer for URH would be as a WWE Superstar.  But that's a post for another time.

I've never been but I've heard it's a good time
I have noticed that wrestling fans are tremendously loyal. I am a big baseball and football fan and I have had conversations with people who were fans of a player but when that player does something wrong or even when the players career is coming to an end and they aren't as good as they once were. I have noticed that people will give up on their once favorite. But with wrestling fans they hold these athletes in their hearts forever. Like guys like Scott Hall who's had a ton of run ins with drugs and the law but is working very hard to clean himself up. His fans and wrestling fans have been behind him 100% since the start. There are Yankees fans who do not like Robinson Cano ( There best player on the team hands down)  because he's too good and doesn't really give it all.

But I guess that's the thing. Wether  players give it all or not you can tell when they take a page off. But wrestlers really can't afford to give anything less then everything, because that would lead to a shorter career by firings or injury. So when you see something like a standing ovation for any legend or after a great match by a future legend.

What's up ?
In closing, I greatly respect  everything that these athletes do. It takes a ton of conviction and commitment to put yourself on the line like that.  Now If you think there are Superstars/ Divas I should check out please let me know. I do like A.J Lee there is something about a girl who is mentally unbalanced and can throw on a submission move , that makes me feel all warm inside.  So let me hear who you think is worth a look. Like always you can get me on the Facebook Fan page and on my twitter.

Movie Mayhem #14 : The World's End

OH SHIT! Sorry everybody. I totally forgot to jot this one down. I got pretty carried away with the whole thing and the stuff that goes on when I need money. Same Song different dance, this time its the soft waltz and not the hot step juke.

Right but Back to The World's End. Which is Edgar Wright 3rd installment in the brilliant and every evolving Cornetto Trilogy. If you don't know what the Cornetto  Trilogy is , well I will tell you. It is Shaun of the Dead which is the first of the Rom/com/Zoom movies. So suck it Warm Bodies. It is you standard Boy loves Girl, Girl breaks up with Boy, Boy gets drunk with Friend, Zombies , Boy tries to win girl back , Zombies, Hilarity ensues and Zombies. You know that old story. Hot Fuzz is their take on out of hand crazy bang bang shoot 'em up Buddy Cop comedies  like Point Break, Bad Boys, 48 hours, Lethal Weapon and Tactical Force Staring Stone Cold Steve Austin... Side note awesome movie. But I'll keynote it. Super cop transferred to small town, impressionable partner, mysterious murders, and hilarity ensues. Look, the movies have been out for like 9 & 5 years you should just go buy them at Best Buy. I bought the Blu Ray versions of both movies for $10. Seriously $10. Get on it

So here is what I am going to say about The World's End. Is I loved this movie. Though It is not my favorite of the Three but it is tied for a close 2nd. But I feel I would change my mind if and when I see it again. I like watching these movies on dvd because I can watch it at my pace and not have to deal with the movie theater vibe. But here is what I have to say About it. Go see this movie . By far the best movie of the summer.

So that is it. I would have loved to go into full detail on why I think this was the best complete movie in the past two years.  The direction, the dialogue, the action, the comedy, the movement and the everything in this movie is on point. But not everyone feels the same about Edgar Wrights movies. It's a serious issue because fucking Riddick is in the top 3 at the Box Office and This movie is not even top 5.

The potential of RoboCop has got me thinking... Danger City aka Detroit

Google Images Made my 2013
The RoboCop remake trailer came out today (9/4/2013 just incase you're reading this in the future) and through out it's casting, production , and updates I have been keeping a relatively close eye on it because like every American man born in the 80's and lived through the 90's I thought of Robocop as a Hero. Well, at least RoboCop 1& 2, 3 can go fuck it self. But I hold it pretty close to the heart right along with  Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers and  Bill Murray  all heroes to me.

So I wasn't 100% behind the idea of a Robocop remake. Yes, the original isn't perfect. Granted it was the 80's they were trying some shit out. Just playing around with some green screen, squib packs, exploding hands, Kurtwood Smith's giant forehead just stealing the show and whatever this was. It's funny I looked all over the youtube and the google and couldn't find actual footage of  when the boss man got shot out the window. This will have to do, but yeah this was crazy . Look at those arms, so life like so real, so 80's. And that's what made it such a beloved movie. It's so out of hand crazy that it is cemented in our hearts an untouchable film. But money is easy to make then original ideas, so Robocop is getting an update.

After watching the trailer. I am kinda digging it. They stuffed it with Actors I want to see work together and really it looks like a Pacific Rim style action movie. Just enough clever dialogue to get me past the bullshit logic and just the right amount of action to take over the movie.  So really what this three paragraph lead up is heading to is a top list.

Welcome to the Top 5 Remakes in my opinion  that were better then the originals aka The shot heard around the world . After this some of us are going to war.  So lets go to war.

You were the bomb in Jack and Jill
5. ScarFace/Scarface-Yes, The movie that ever rapper owns at least 5 pieces of memorabilia from and probably only like 8 of them actually watched. The heart warming story of a plucky underdog as he makes his way the ladder with heart, grit , determination and a shit load of Cocaine. You know he score so I wont get into it. But Pretty much its crazy gangster named Tony cuts his way up to the top of crime world and then dies at the end

Bro, have you ever photo placed?
4. Treasure Island / Muppet Treasure Island - Classic tale of a young man making friends with an older amputee in the bowls of a ship, later to betrayed by said amputee because said amputee is a  pirate named Long John Silver.... Did anyone back in the day when they were banning books every get a feeling that maybe the friendship in the bottom of a boat between young Jim Hawking and a guy named LONG JOHN Sliver was suspicious or were they too worried about Holden Caulfield  being a bitch? Needless to say The Muppets did a great job of real telling this tale. But that is a bias statement because I think the Muppets could remake anything and it will be good. Like When they remade Friday the 13th VIII with Muppets Take Manhattan. Just a shot by shot remake.

3. Mr. Blandings builds His Dream House / The Money Pit - I bet you just threw on the breaks. You were clipping along laugh and having a great time with the Scarface and the whole Muppets jokes that I had going on. But then I  just put it out there and you are all like " What is this?" I'll tell you. TOM MOTHER FUCKING HANKS , bitch... Yeah and  Alexander Godunov is the smooth bad guy in this burrito of 80's goodness. Basic over view Man ( Carey Grant/Tom Hanks) and fiance ( Myrna Loy/Shelly Long) build/find their dream house where they will build their future (pun intended) but some crazy shit happens and they get all mad at each other because its pretty crazy and then some other guy comes sniffing around. Hilarity ensues . Fun is had by all.

Never a dull moment
2. Star Trek II Wrath of Kahn / Star Trek into Darkness-Basically the same movie except not fake tits, Spock is Kirk, Kirk is Spock and The Klingons are there for a minute. Now I am not a huge Star Trek guy so when I say this please know its from an outsiders point of view. But The JJ Abrams movies are better then original ones. They have better stories and you get a better sense of the future with them. Now I wasn't 100% on how they cured death or the lack of Alice Eve boobs. But I got over it. Also maybe they could have used a comma in the title. But all in all that was a great Star Wars audition.

I said Yo Smell You later

1. Omega Man / I am Legend - For those of you who don't know this movie has been remade twice. The first one is called  The Last man on earth and it is based off a book called you guessed it I am Legend. Pretty much one man survived a global pandemic where everyone except him has become a Vampire Zombie. Or a Zombie Vampire or a Vampy or a Zombire  or an Albino. No body really knows, just a bunch of people who are harmed by the sun and tried to eat people. But the Will Smith lead update is quite possibly the best all around remake of all the Remakes. Totally blows the Honeymooners and Total Recall out of the water. Wasn't Will Smith nominated for an Oscar for this movie. It had to be  for the scene where his dog dies. That broke me. Hold on, I'm remembering.... Ok I am back. Also I am Legend is the unofficial official start of the DC Universe. Not the Shitty Kevin Spacey or the Batman trilogy, no the one with Amy Adams in it and that is the only one that counts.

So there it is. Let me know what you think . Hit me up on the Facebook Page or on Twitter. Since its football season I will be more active on Sundays and mondays. I kill it during the games.

Why Blizzard shouldn't worry about loss of WoW subscribers.

On November 13th 2008, if you were at a Gamestop, Best Buy, or any other video game retailer at midnight, you were picking up one game- World of Warcraft. Within 24 hours WOW had sold 2.8 million copies, shattering PC sale records. The expansion Wrath of The Lich King became the fastest selling PC game of all time. This out did the first expansion released for the game, called The Burning Crusade, which sold 2.4 million. This expansion helped start the peak of subscriptions for World of Warcraft.  WOW peaked twice, after the release of Wrath (hitting an unthinkable 12 million subscribers) and at the launch date for Cataclysm, the 3rd expansion to the game, selling 3.3 million copies on day 1.  Since then another expansion, Mists of Pandaria, released- marking the beginning of a steady decline of subscribers from the game.
With the title's 10th anniversary approaching; news broke that Activision Blizzard’s behemoth of a game, has fallen below 7.7 million players. This unfortunately translates to a loss of 600,000 subscriptions across 3 months, when Blizzard announced they had 8.3 million people subscribed. There have been posts all around the forums, other news sources and on several podcasts asking- is World of Warcraft a dying star? In my opinion...No.
With all of the TV spots and advertising WOW had for the newest expansion Mists of Pandaria, the game looked to have become a complete joke to a lot of people. Everywhere you looked there was an outcry from fans, ex-fans and people who were never really interested in the game. People related the expansion to “Kung Fu Panda”, complaining about how childish it was to play as pandas. The negative media attention it received slowly started a loss of interest. The amount of detailed lore in the game came close to the spectacular story of Wrath, but the sale numbers came up extremely short of expectations.  Although, now it has sold exceptionally well, the original numbers showed nothing but disappointment.
Many people have complained since MoP’s release, that the game had some very different changes that not many people are fans of. Easier leveling from level 1-80, buying mounts, pets and now cosmetic helmets from the Blizzard online store, and now the soon to be released In-game store. The In-game store is much like the free to play models of being able to enhance your experience by spending more money than is required. It ranges anywhere from being able to buy small upgrades like potions to full on XP boosts. This quite possibly could be WoWs answer to recent MOBAs like League of Legends, and Smite. These games let you play for free, but require you to buy characters you want to play, and skins to make them look more pleasing to the eye.
The latests headlines of “WoW down X amount of subscribers!” is an unfortunate thing to read. Throughout the life of the game, players have always unsubscribed and subscribed back at certain points. Towards the last half of any expansion since Burning Crusade, players leave the game for a few months, waiting for new content to come. To put it in perspective, Gamers all over the world played the new Bioshock game for weeks. The game got boring playing the same levels and mobs over and over, so players looked to other games to keep them entertained. This is the magic of DLC, where when new levels, story arcs, and new enemies come into play, it makes the game fun again. World of Warcraft captures majority of their hardcore gamers in raids. Massive groups of 25-40 people taking down one extremely hard boss. Once they take down a boss 5-10 times, it gets boring and repetitive every other time afterwards. Players will then  just wait it out until new content comes, others will unsubscribe and play new games while they wait. Right now while we are in between expansions, its always expected for numbers to be low. If Blizzard can hit the nail on the head with the next expansion, bringing in new content that everyone wants to try out, they have the chance to peek again.
Personally, I have been a nonstop subscriber to the game for the last 8 years. I have taken hiatuses from the game, all for different reasons. I was bored with content, my friends stopped playing, and I’ve even watched my guild fall apart. The connection people have with this game can be very strong. I feel extremely guilty when I don’t play for a few months, knowing I have money going to Blizzard to keep my account active. Unfortunately, unlike me, millions of players will stop paying if they are not playing for a few months.
There have been 5 major releases dubbed “The WoW Killer”,which were MMO’s that looked very promising, and threatening to Blizzards player base: Rift, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Aion, Guild Wars 2, and Age of Conan. All were very fun games that many people tried and loved, but they did not hold water to WoW. The things people did not like about those games were because WoW had done it better. This is not just my opinion, but mostly the opinions of communities from major MMO themed websites. Blizzard has years of service under their belt, and know exactly how to make the game stronger than ever.WoW know’s how to compete with competitors, and always has something new to draw players back. Although many players may have left to join the Free to Play hit League of Legends during this expansion, this doesn’t count as an MMORPG, therefore I do not consider it a “WoW Killer”. Highly popular and successful without a shadow of a doubt, but a different game than World of Warcraft.
So, should Blizzard be worried about the loss of subscriptions? My personal answer is not really. There is no doubt that WoW has been on a steady decline of players since Cataclysm, but with an interesting new expansion, and a steady new stream of interesting content, Blizzard can grab ahold of players new and old. With a strong 5th installment in a game series everyone loves, you will be seeing an increase in subscriptions all over again.
Now, Is it likely for WoW to surpass 12 million players again? Maybe not, but they will score 9 to 11 million again, it just will take time. Now if it pulled the Guild Wars idea, and came out with World of Warcraft 2, or something along the lines of that, Blizzard will definitely see an impressive 12 million plus subscriptions again. But in the meantime, if you are a fan of the game, continue to support it. If you want to try it, it’s free until level 20. Find a guild that will help guide new players and support you on your long journey.

If you want someone to help you get back into the game, @Desquatro will help you out.
